The studio
Vela Aesthetics opened in 2015 in a four-room suite on Knox Street. Our founder, nurse practitioner Elena Marsh, spent nine years in dermatology clinics before opening Vela around one rule: no patient is treated without a written plan and a physician's sign-off.
Dr. Anita Rao, MD, has been our medical director since 2017. She is on site three days a week, reviews every new treatment plan, and sees any patient with a complication personally, at no charge. Our three nurse injectors carry between 6 and 14 years of injecting experience each, and every one is required to complete 24 hours of continuing education per year.
We stock one lane of products we know well rather than every brand on the market: Allergan and Galderma injectables, SkinCeuticals and iS Clinical skincare, and a Candela laser platform serviced quarterly. When a treatment is not right for your skin, we say so and take it off the plan.

From the review pages
I came in asking for filler and left with a plan that started with skincare and a peel instead. Six months later I did add filler, half the amount I had originally asked for. They talked me out of spending more. That bought my loyalty.
After a minor reaction to a peel, Dr. Rao called me herself the same evening and saw me at 9am the next day. No charge, no runaround, a documented note in my chart.
My injector showed me the vial, the units drawn, and the math on the invoice line by line. I have never had that at another med spa in ten years of getting Botox.
